Objective:

Identify and review knowledge of ice harvesting tools.

Method:

Students will complete a worksheet to match ice harvest tools to their name and purpose.

Materials:

Time:

  • Preparation Time: 5 minutes
  • Class Time: 15-20 minutes

Procedure:

Review your visit to Hanford Mills Museum and how ice was harvested from the pond.
Questions to ask:

  • What steps went into harvesting ice?
  • Where and how did people store ice?
  • Give each student a copy of the Ice Tool Match worksheet to complete.
  • Give each student a copy of the Ice Tool Match worksheet to complete.
  • If you wish you can go over the answers as a class.
