About Justin Maroney

Justin Maroney joined the HMM team as Education Coordinator in June, 2026. He was an intern at Hanford Mills the summer prior. Justin holds a master’s degree from SUNY Oneonta’s Cooperstown Graduate Program. Around the age of 16, Justin began his experiences in Museum interpretation through reenacting. During this time, he was able to demonstrate the point of view of US soldiers from the Civil War as well as World War I and World War II, which gave him experience with historical artifacts. Justin is excited to lead mill tours for our visitors. He also is looking forward to interacting with kids of all ages, helping them connect with our historic mill site and the local history it encapsulates. His favorite piece of equipment at HMM is the turbine because it is highly compelling to watch. When not guiding museum visitors, Justin enjoys collecting baseball cards. A favorite movie is “True Stories,” starring musician David Byrne. The movie offers a perspective on the culture of North Texas, where Justin is originally from.
